Developmental Editing (Big Stuff)
Starting at $0.035 per word
Developmental editing focuses on plot, pacing, character development, the narrative arc—you know, the overall structure and style of your manuscript. Insights and recommendations will be detailed throughout the manuscript as comments in the margins and in a customized five- to fifteen-page editorial letter with a formal overview of strengths and opportunities.
Line Editing (Medium Stuff)
Starting at $0.03 per word
Line editing includes everything under “basic copy editing” plus suggested improvements to pacing, structure, organization, and more. At the end of the process, you’ll receive a redlined version of your edited manuscript using Track Changes in Microsoft Word, a clean version of your edited manuscript for reviewing ease, and a style sheet of recorded formatting and spelling preferences.
Basic Copy Editing (Small Stuff)
Starting at $0.02 per word
Copy editing focuses on correcting spelling, usage, grammar, and punctuation, improving style, addressing inconsistencies, as well as simple fact-checking and limited rewriting. Think about it as fine-tuning your manuscript. At the end of the process, you’ll receive a redlined version of your edited manuscript using Track Changes in Microsoft Word, a clean version of your edited manuscript for reviewing ease, and a style sheet of recorded formatting and spelling preferences.
Manuscript Review (A Professional Book Report)
Starting at $0.01 per word
A manuscript review is a detailed report that covers plot, characters, dialogue, setting, pace, opening/ending, and helps you develop a strategy for revision. This option may be helpful for people who know their manuscript needs work but (for whatever reason) may not be interested in a full developmental edit.
All editing packages include a conscious language assessment, wherein I’ll flag language that may unintentionally create harm, perpetuate stereotypes, or feed stigma, along with explanations and suggestions for alternative language.
